Do you want to save money commuting?
Do you want to be dropped off within walking distance of work?

Try the BT Commuter, it's easy to use and easy on the pocket.

The BT commuter provides service between Christiansburg and Blacksburg, Monday through Friday based around a traditional work schedule of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

240 Commuter

In Christiansburg the 240 Commuter serves neighborhoods in the downtown area and Oak Tree Town Homes. A last chance stop is provided at Northgate Village, (North Franklin behind McDonald's). In Blacksburg the drop-off points start by the University Gateway Center and continue with multiple stops on the Virginia Tech campus and finishes with a stop in the downtown area of Blacksburg 240 Commuter Map/Times.

Understanding the 240 Commuter Route: In the morning the route starts by Hubbell Lighting at 7 a.m. completing the stops in numerical order the last stop is made at Northgate Village at 7:30 a.m. In Blacksburg, the first stop is on Prices Fork by the Unviersity Gateway Center, along West Campus Drive, the Drillfield and makes its last drop off at the Blacksburg Municipal Building.

In the afternoon the route operates in the reverse of the morning, so it starts in Blacksburg then picks up on Campus with the last pick up on Prices Fork before heading to Christiansburg. The drop-offs in Christiansburg are then completed in reverse of the morning.

Information about Service

The BT Commuter Route is designed with ten morning pickup locations in Christiansburg and five drop off locations in Blacksburg. The service provides over 5,000 commuter trips annually. The Town of Christiansburg and Virginia Tech contribute financially to support public transportation and commuter services grants provided by the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation. This grant funding comes from the Job Access and Reverse Commute (JARC) program, established to address the unique transportation challenges faced by welfare recipients and low-income persons seeking to obtain and maintain employment.
