Saturday, 9/12 Christiansburg Detour Info Rockin' C'Burg

Due to special events at Uptown Mall this Saturday, September 12, the Explorer and Two Town Trolley will detour and ONLY service stop #1801 NRV Theatre at the Mall. Stops #1800 Uptown Mall, #2209 Shoppers Way Wbnd and #2226 Shoppers Way Ebnd will be CLOSED.

Christiansburg Service

Blacksburg Transit operates three routes within the Town of Christiansburg, The Explorer, Go Anywhere, and the Two Town Trolley. Descriptions of each follow below.

The Explorer

The Explorer Blue and Green routes service many of the residential areas and businesses in Christiansburg as well as the shopping district around the NRV Mall. With two hourly routes and the ability to request deviations, riders can travel to a wide range of popular locations within the town. On Saturdays each route will be services every two hours. Service will begin at 10 AM at Exit 118 Park & Ride, following the GRN route first. Please visit the Hours of Operation page for hours of service. BT is fare free, so no ID, pass or fare is needed to board any BT vehicle.

Tips for reading the schedule:

  • Stops are listed in the order serviced, however, not all stops are listed.
  • All stops listed on the PDF schedule are time checks. Buses do not leave these stops before the posted time.
  • A yellow triangle represents a time check, a location where the bus does not leave before the designated time.
  • Some areas have stops along both sides of the street.

Deviation stops

  • The Explorer Blue and Green routes may deviate off the route to drop off or pick up passengers as long as the deviation meets certain criteria.
  • Passengers may request a deviation stop in two ways:
    • After boarding - ask the operator to request approval for a deviation stop.
    • Before boarding, e.g. when the location begins off the route - call BT two hours in advance of the desired pickup time, and request a deviation stop.

Requests are considered on a first come, first served basis, and will be approved as time and space allows, if:

  1. The requested stop is an approved location
  2. The deviation will take not more than five minutes

To request a deviation please call two hours in advance on the day the deviation is being requested. Deviations can be requested between 7 AM and 5 PM Monday through Friday by calling (540) 443-7111. 

Go Anywhere

Plain and simple, the Go Anywhere route will pick you up and take you anywhere within the Town of Christiansburg. Please visit the Hours of Operation page for service hours. BT is fare free, so no ID, pass or fare is needed to board any BT vehicle. Reservations are required.

Tips for scheduling a Go Anywhere trip:

  • Reserve your trip by calling (540) 443-7111. Reservations are accepted between 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Reservations are not accepted by voicemail.
  • Reservations can be made up to fourteen days in advance. All reservations are first come, first served, including same day reservations.
  • Cancellations must be made at least two hours prior to the scheduled pick-up time and can be left on voicemail.

Two Town Trolley 

Blacksburg Transit now offers 2 Two Town Trolley routes connecting Blacksburg and the shopping district near the Uptown Mall in Christiansburg. The TTH (Two Town Trolley Hospital) and TTS (Two Town Trolley Spradlin Farm).

TTH - Two Town Trolley - Hospital (TTH) runs 7 days a week with stops at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, Uptown Mall, Walmart, and Marketplace Shopping Center.

TTS - Two Town Trolley - Spradlin farms (TTS) runs on weekends only and provides service to Uptown Mall, Walmart, and Spradlin Farm and Marketplace Shopping Centers. For route maps and schedules for these routes, please click here .
