All changes are subject to change. Last updated 1/13/26.

Starting January 18, 2026, BT will be temporarily adjusting weekday service to accommodate 2 active recalls limiting battery capacity on our 28 electric buses.

Frequency reductions and alternate route patterns will be implemented affecting at least 8 routes at various times between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Service after 7 p.m. and on weekends will not be affected.

Service during peak ridership times will be maintained as much as possible. These adjustments are designed to shorten the operating time of some routes to align with the reduced charging capacity of the electric buses. Routes with longer operating times will be run with diesel buses or 2 electric buses splitting the route halfway through.

In general, customers can expect to see frequency decreases before 8 a.m. and after 3 p.m. on various routes. On some routes this will mean a bus every 30 minutes instead of every 15 minutes, during part of the day. Alternate patterns operated on nights and weekends for some routes will begin at 3 p.m. Some routes will be unaffected.

All of BT’s electric buses fall under both active New Flyer recalls. The recalls both significantly shorten the operating time for every electric bus. This decrease is compounded by the cold weather, which further reduces the overall performance of the electric buses. All 28 vehicles are still safe to operate, and BT has implemented all recommended safety precautions identified within the recall. No mechanical or safety issues related to these recalls have been experienced on BT vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the buses still safe to ride?

Yes, all BT vehicles are still safe to ride. BT has implemented all recommended safety precautions identified within the recall.  No mechanical or safety issues related to these recalls have been experienced on BT vehicles.

What safety precautions is BT taking?

BT has implemented all recommended safety precautions identified within the recall. Our electric buses are now stored outside & only charged to 75% capacity. Some buses have additional limits on battery capacity.

How is my route affected?

Check out the “Frequency Changes by Route” for details about each route. There are no changes after 7 PM, and no decreases on weekends.

Are these changes permanent?

No. BT hopes to add service back this spring as the weather warms. We are keeping a close eye on the situation and will retore service as soon as we can.

There’s now 30 minute TTT on the weekends. Why can you add service on the weekend if it needs to be reduced during the week?

Great question. Even with these recalls lowering our maximum level of service, we’re moving forward with some planned improvements, this includes adding service where we can. We can add service on weekends and in the evenings as long as we don’t surpass the maximum number of buses we can have on the road.
