Virginia Tech Football Game Day Service

Blacksburg Transit offers service on all buses and shuttles on football game day(s). In addition to regular fixed-route service, Blacksburg Transit runs extra football buses on regular routes to facilitate large crowds. Blacksburg Transit also offers shuttle service from public parking at P2 (map), located at 3109 Prices Fork Road to Lane Stadium. (Note: Parking lot is operated by the local school systems and charge fees to park).

  • Monthly passes are now valid all day on game days.
  • Valid VT Hokie passports are valid at all boarding locations, including P2 and the E-lot. There are no longer any parking lot based restrictions.
$0.50 per rider Beginning of service until three hours prior to kickoff

$0.50 per rider From 3 hours after the end of game until the end of service

* Exception: The game day fare structure above is not applicable to passengers on: The Explorer, Go Anywhere or Two Town Trolley.

BT Access provides free ADA shuttle service for passengers with disabilities to and from Lane Stadium. Please call BT Access at 540-961-1803 for more details.

Football Shuttles begin three hours prior to kickoff and run for two hours after each game. Regular fixed-route service is suspended for two hours after each game so that those buses can be used to assist departing fans.

All shuttles will leave from Washington Street, by Cassell Coliseum after the game. BT staff will be available in safety vests to direct passengers.

Transit Tips - Before the game:

  • Please check to see what route/shuttle you are boarding. This will be the route/shuttle you will need to catch after the game.
  • Route buses will drop off at normal stops on campus. They will not change their route to drop off near Cassell Coliseum.
  • Shuttle buses will drop off at Cassell Coliseum.
  • Make sure you have your tickets before you get on board.
  • No food or beverages will be permitted on board
  • Shuttle buses will only drop off at Cassell Coliseum.
  • BT Access vans drop off and pick up at the southside of Lane Stadium.
  • It takes about 10-20 minutes, depending on traffic congestion for a bus to make it to Cassell Coliseum. This could change depending on congestion.
  • Traffic congestion reaches and remains at its peak one hour prior to kick off.
  • The on campus handicap lot fills up quickly. Please plan accordingly.
  • Make sure to check what shuttle you need after the game.
    • Green: P2, Hethwood, Foxridge
    • Blue: South Main Street, Fairfax Road, First & Main Shopping Center and Professional Park
    • Yellow: Toms Creek, UCB, Progress Street, Patrick Henry Drive
    • Red: North Main, Harding Avenue, Windsor Hills, Seneca Circle, Giles Road, Whipple Drive, Red Maple
    • Orange: CRC and the airport (drop-off and pick-up at South Stadium, not Washington St.)

During the game:

  • Shuttles will provide service throughout the game with pick-ups at intersection of Spring St./Washington St.
  • BT Access operates limited service from Lane Stadium and the on campus handicap lot.

After the game:

  • Football shuttles will resume service at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
  • Please be patient. Traffic congestion usually lasts one to two hours after the game.
  • All route buses and shuttles will depart from Cassell Coliseum on Washington Street; this is the primary departure area for all buses.
  • Make sure to check what shuttle you need after the game.
    • Green: P2, Hethwood, Foxridge
    • Blue: South Main Street, Fairfax Road, First & Main Shopping Center and Professional Park
    • Yellow: Toms Creek, UCB, Progress Street, Patrick Henry Drive
    • Red: North Main, Harding Avenue, Windsor Hills, Seneca Circle, Giles Road, Whipple Drive, Red Maple
    • Orange: CRC and airport (drop-off and pick-up at South Stadium, not Washington St.) Other departure areas such as Newman Library, Torgersen Hall, Burruss Hall, and Squires East will be served after the crowds at the coliseum have subsided.
  • You may remain on a bus for 20-40 minutes due to traffic congestion.
